This is a recording of an balanced full-sized disc. For reference, the sound at the beginning of the wave file is the drive door closing. Not all discs will make this much noise, but almost all full-sized discs will make more noise than an 80mm-based disc. This was recorded in a 50x drive. Lower drive speeds will result in less noise from full-sized cds.
